The economic studies are relevant for any institution. Nevertheless, and in spite of the fact that, they are very useful when the institution is a monastery, convent or any religious entity.With this research we try to initiate a way that will be of great fecundity and will give to the light interesting works inside this field. There are many aspects that might be born in mind, nevertheless, and provided that it is a question of an initial study we will centre on the concrete one: the countable documentation about convents in the Archivo Diocesano de Mérida- Badajoz.
