In the mid 16th century, Juan de Robles made a translation and commentary of the four Gospels. His proposal is exceptional for the quality of his translation and especially because he decides to commentate on the whole Gospel in Castilian. We offer here the transcription of the prologue to this work and a brief introduction that indicates the main characteristics of Robles’ proposal and the problems resulting from such work whose commentaries stay unpublished.
