There are several theories about this questions. For some authors the first Indians were baptized in 1493 in Guadalupe basilical church (Extremadura). But did Colon go to this church between his first and his second navigation to America? A second response is that American Indian's first solemn baptism was certainly administered in Guadalupe but at the return of the second travel. But were those Indians the first baptized solemnely? A third possibility is that the first six Indians were baptized in Barcelona, when Colon introduced them to the Catholic Kings after the Descovery; it is even possible that those Kings and the prince Juan acted as godparents and cardinal Mendoza as the sacred minister.
