At the beginning of the year 1820 Rafael de Riego’s revolution restore the liberal regime in Spain. Lleida’s church adapted correctly to the new political system. However, the legislative work of the liberal Spanish Parliament harmed seriously to all the political, economic and social structures of the ecclesiastic institution. With the radicalism of the liberal government there took place the break of the relations of the religious ones of Lleida’s town hall, who a little time suffered the pursuit and the repression of the liberal authorities. Therefore, the balance of the liberal period was very negative and his enormous impact.
