The character of Saint John the Baptist in the hispanic-mozarabic rite has a great importance in the liturgical year of the rite. His presence goes beyond of the celebration of his birth and death, spreading to a precedent Sunday and to texts and readings of Advent and Epiphany. John is considered as friend of the Husband (Christ), sanctified in the mother’s womb, Precursor, angel, light and voice of the Verb, amongst others titles. Herald of Truth, he puts the basements of the Church by his preaching and by his exhortation to the following of Christ.
