The Cardinal of Toledo, don Francisco Antonio de Lorenzana, was one of the main driving forces behind the Spanish mozarabic liturgy. This action was realized trough the edition of the new mozarabic breviary (1775) and also of a new mozarabic missal (1804), using a base those edited in 1500 and 1502 by another Cardinal of Toledo, Don Francisco Jiménez de Cisneros. His aim was to preserve and foster this venerable rite as it made the glorious christian past of Spain become closer and it also offered a proved model od faith, behaviours and attitudes for the present and for the future. These models were worth of christian admiration.
