El relato del traslado de los santos mártires Jorge, Aurelio y Natalia: un valioso escrito hagiográfico y documental histórico de mediados del siglo IX

Abstract

The work De translatione sanctorum martyrum Georgii monachi, Aurelii et Nathaliae ex urbe Corduba Parisios, written by Aimonius of Saint Germaindes-Prés about the year 871, was lacking a comprehensive commentary. The facts that it narrates, the events to which refers and the characters whom mentions, are so important for the history of Spain and France in the High Middle Ages, that go beyond the limits of the hagiographical frame of the story and give it a great documentary value. The author of this article examines them all within their socio-religious context, and offers the translation into Spanish of the first book of the three that constitute the work, which is the most interesting and the best to combine history and hagiography.
